It’s that time again – March has arrived and our second Mother’s Day 5K approaches.
Our work out regime is a little tough like I am sure everyone else as we all have hectic lives and work long hours. My daughter and I both know that it is time to get on track and start walking everyday to get ourselves fit and ready for the walk. Last year we walked everyday at the local park to get ready, which we will be doing again this year. We walk any where from 1.5 to 2.5 miles a day depending on the weather. No, we are not looking to win but to make sure that we are fit enough to walk and enjoy this great event.
Our local park has a track that goes around the entire compound which has varying degrees of hills that definitely help with the training. However, as we reach the top of one of the hills, the pain and gasping for breath is hysterical, but on we tread.
This is a special time for a mother to spend with her daughter. Not only walking in the fresh air and being a part of this great event, but it is a wonderful time to see other mothers and daughters catching up on their lives.
Now that my daughter is grown and has her own life, we do not have the times together as we used to and it is special to just walk and talk about all types of things from cooking, work, TV shows, hair styles and even doing the laundry.
I cherish spending this time with her, especially as we cross the finish line hand in hand. Even though her hand is a lot bigger than when she was born, it still fits perfectly in my hand. Thank you for this wonderful memory.
